New Media Society in collaboration with Lajevardi Collection presents:
New Media Talk Serie #11 | Sohrab Motabar & Saba Alizadeh | Auditory re-arrangements
This August New Media Society focuses on Sound and through a number of sound sessions and talks tries to shed light on practices which various individuals and collectives whom dedicated their activities.
Auditory Re-arrangements brings together Saba Alizadeh and Sohrab Motabar in a talk/performance
at Lajevardi Collection, where they will share their recent projects and creations and then they will perform a short sound session

The session will be held in Persian and it’s open to public and admission
Sohrab Motabar (1984 – Tehran) He started his carrier by playing Electric Guitar and Bass in iranian local rock bands. In 2002 he entered Tehran conservatory to study jazz guitar, but in third year he found his interest in composition. Gradually he got interested in western contemporary music and electronic music, following his passion he went to Netherlands to study once again. During this time he start to explore the world of computer music specifically. During this time his works mostly deal with mathematical concepts and digital sound synthesis methods both is fixed-media compositions and live performances. He graduated from Royal Conservatory of the Hague at 2014 and currently studying at Institute of Sonology in master program. He recently had many performances in Tehran such as in Tadaex and gen.er.a.trix.
Saba Alizadeh is photographer, sound artist and a performer on Kamancheh(Persian spike fiddle) born and raised in Tehran, Iran.
After completing his BFA in photography (Azad university of Tehran) he moved to the united states in 2011 to study MFA in Experimental sound practices (Calarts).
Saba’s still images and audio works extensively deal with social, political issues that surrounds him.
His sound based works also have a theatrical element to them which brings them closer to performance art.
Saba’s photographs have been displayed in both national and international exhibitions such as Paris photo, Art Moscow, cite internationale des arts (Paris) and etc.
Alizadeh as a performer has toured extensively through out Europe, North America and Mexico.
Saba is currently based in tehran, Iran
