The films programmed for screening will show Experimental Film Society’s formal experimentation through the deconstruction and decomposition of film genres. In this work the filmmakers have radically minimalized genre elements, attaining what could be described as a ground zero of drama through the systematic removal of narrative structures. What this has achieved is a series of experimental films that foreground mood, atmosphere, visual rhythms, the nature and subjectivity of the image and the gaze that engenders it as well as the permeability of the borders between fiction and lyrical film-making.
