6 Three-hour Online Sessions

Mondays

Outline:

This workshop aims to introduce the game’s potentials as an artistic medium for artists who are active in visual, sound, interdisciplinary, and new media fields and are interested in video games. It seeks to provide the participating artists with the opportunities that this medium offers for expressing oneself and better conveying our ideas: by using the capacities of the uniquely direct connection with the audience.
To fulfill this aim, we review some remarkable works, talk about the basic game design principles, study interdisciplinary approaches, explore various existing genres, and survey game engines.
As the final presentation, each group of participants will develop an experimental game. The reason behind this presentation is to enable the participants to gain a first-hand experience with the process of group game development.

There are no prerequisites for this workshop.
