Nicolas Grospierre is an artist and photographer. He has achieved a mastery in balancing the artistic quality with anthropological approach to photographic subject. His background in political sciences and history of post-soviet region as well as a cultural experience of growing up in between cultures allows him for systematic and insightful accounts of socio-political transition, changing concepts of power and the role of archives in shaping the ideas of historical continuity. His interest is directed to modernist architectural projects, symbolic monuments and buildings and private initiatives of artists and individual common people in re-organizing their spatial environment. Grospierre was a co-author (with Kobas Laksa) of Golden Lion awarded project for best national participation in Venice Architecture Biennale in 2008, he received prizes and exhibited in Poland and abroad in multiple exhibitions and projects.
